Jess Harris

“My passion for art started with sketching and designing clothes. I had initially wanted to be a fashion designer and so after completing a Diploma in Foundation Art and Design at Falmouth School of Art I decided to do a degree in Illustration at Bournemouth Arts University.
I soon realised my passion wasn’t the clothes but in the people wearing them and their unique expression of life. After completing my degree I took to the  easel again and began to paint portraits, taking inspiration from the likes of Jenny Saville and Lucian Freud.
Faces fascinate me but my main focus is always the eyes which really can be the window to someones soul; it never ceases to amaze me how a tiny change in someones eyes can completely alter a painting. I aim to go beyond the physical form and capture the essence of what makes a up the character of an individual person.”

Jess is available for commission and exhibition opportunities.
